Titles are overrated.

Went to the Buffalo Killers Cd Release show. Twas good. Lions Rampant is pretty good.

The kid got glasses. And a haircut.

I got my first pair of prescription sunglasses. Pricey. But… “My future is so bright, I gotta wear shades..”

I won tickets to six flags.

Outpost firewall sucks.

My cabinets are overflowing with free peanuts.

Must be the blood that’s running through your blue veins

Free time…I think I’m starting to remember what its like now.

Went to a concert. Saw G-rod’s mancrush (Jack White) live. Saw G-rod and P.D. I miss G-rod and his antics, but he’s happy so I can’t fault him. Also bumped into W from LV(previous employer). I realized while me a W had similar interests, there was never any real ‘click’ or friendship there. I’m glad I think I can say differently about most the former and current TW cow-orkers.

So, I get a certificate of my edumacation on saturday. Today, the boys in my immediate department gave me a graduation card and a GC. Shhh… I almost cried. Well, prolly didn’t help that earlier in the day my mom called and asked me kind of degree I was getting. Anyhow.. shhh… but I was touched. Sometimes the engineering boys leave me out of things, but occasionally they surprise me (today).

Nummy, free powerade tastes good.

And… it was a smokin’ awesome concert.

Schools out! Let the learning begin!

The kid is now officially a middle schooler. (Does that make me old?)
AND
I will shortly be a college graduate… officially.

I’ve been somewhat enjoying the free time I have without the college classes. I’m sure I’ll get tired of it eventually but its a nice change from the past 3 years. Two or three nights a week all year (including summers) was getting old. Lately, I’ve been able to watch tv shows when they air (gasp!) and my DVR queue is finally less than a page and at like 12% or something crazy low. I’ve also began working on re-introducing myself to a ‘hobby’. The hobby of ‘not spending’. I now have a little bit of free time to scheme and comparison shop. It’s fun and productive.. like beating the ’system’. Some might think I’m crazy.. go ahead and laugh.. laugh at my 50+ free cans of AMP energy drink (it’s my ‘coffee’), laugh while you eat the free candy out of my candy jar at work, laugh at my kid eating his free chex mix, laugh at my fifty cent bus tickets to Chicago or my 4 dollar hotel room near Mammoth, laugh at my reduced debt.

Wait.. maybe I should be the one laughing. MUHAHAHA!

Making more money is good, but spending less is almost as entertaining. :)

Caving weekend

April 19th, 2008

Thanks to SD and Expedia, the kid and I drive 3 or so hours last weekend and did some caving. Cave reviews follow.

Mammoth Cave - the one and only. HUGE. They have gotten rid of the Echo River tour and downplayed the Historic Entrances tour since I went as a teen. Ended weekend with a Trog tour for kid. It is a wild caving tour for kids 8-12. He thought it was the coolest ever. Hope to both do Intro to Caving tour if/when we return.

Diamond Caverns - Nice formations. Close to Mammoth. Worth the price of admission.

Onyx Cave - Tiny cave. Formations everywhere. Good for closeup photos.

Hidden River Cave - Flooded. Kid upset he didn’t get to see the cave where Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) went. Will return when the kid is 12 and do wild caving here.

In other news, updated wordpress and I like it.

DHS apparently doesn’t deem me a threat.

TRU can bite me.

It’s called a pre-order, fool. It’s /supposed/ to reserve a copy on release day.

Also, maybe with your previous track record, advertising and guaranteeing SMG in a NATIONAL AD to be in by 5pm was beyond stupid.

Yeah, and I’m fool for giving you this second chance to redeem yourself

Thanks for making my kid cry. That was just the cherry on the top of my otherwise sucky day.

As you wish!

So… the kid needs to read a fiction book for school. His father suggested he read a book that was made into the movie and then he could watch the movie afterwards. He told him that he could read Princess Bride. The kid replied “It was a book before it was a movie? Inconceivable!”

He makes me so proud sometimes. :P

CCNP!
